| | Pamlico Jacks Pirate Hidewayphone 252-441-2637 email address jack@pamlicojacks.com web address www.pamlicojacks.com
A rebellious Irish rogue, Jack was not suited for Carolina farming. A merchant seaman at 13, a full fledged pirate at age 15. At close to 7 ft tall, his appearance struck more terror than his actions. Though a protégé of Calico Jack and Blackbeard, he favored adventure, sea faring, and life. He sailed The Scurvy Dog to his Carolina hideout tucked away just below Pamlico Inlet, a narrow body of water off the Atlantic Ocean between the eastern coast of North Carolina and the Outer Banks which readily received pirates, runaways and illegal traders.
He quit pirating in 1720 to become an honest Outer Banks fisherman and live out his days drinking rum punch on the dock of his cedar shake coastal hideaway concealed by a windswept shrub thicket of wax myrtle, bayberry, yaupon and catbrier surrounded by sand dunes and sea oats along the peaceful shores of the Pamlico Sound.
Families, quiet and lively friends gather for dinner inside and on the decks. Savor Chef Lee’s island inspired cuisine straight from the galley.
